Yesterday Bettina and RNC Chair Reince Priebus explained their two-pronged approach to courting Latinos. From NBCLatino:
Inclán announced “an aggressive communications plan” that appeals to Latinos’ extensive use of social media – the RNC will have a Twitter account, a Tumblr blog and use of a mobile campaign called “Unete.” The social media campaigns and the website are bilingual.
In addition, the RNC announced a “grassroots” strategy, especially in battleground states such as Florida, New Mexico, Colorado, North Carolina and Nevada. They plan to establish local offices and get-out-the-vote campaigns and work through state Latino representatives and candidates.
While we’ll be seeing less of Bettina’s great contributions to this site, we’ll be watching with interest as she steers the RNC’s efforts through November.

Twitter, tumblr blog the medium doesn’t matter what matters is the message. The Republican message and Romney’s embracing of an extreme anti-Latino, anti-immigrant position will keep Latinos in the Democratic party camp. Obama may not have come through with his promise of the Dream Act or any type of reform, but he doesn’t inflame hatred towards Latinos. Romney appearing in campaign stops with Kobach on MLK Day speaks to the disdain Republicans have towards Latinos.
